Workplace Violence Prevention Plan needed for Companies
Workplace violence resulted in 803 deaths and over 70,000 nonfatal
injuries in 2012. Signs that someone may be about to commit an act of workplace violence include uncooperative behavior, stalking, and harassing, all of which should be addressed before they escalate. Workplaces should have a prevention plan focusing on the most relevant threats, and a zero-tolerance policy for violent behavior and harassment. New hires should be screened for any criminal history, and employees should be trained in ways to prevent workplace violence and how to stay safe in case of an incident. (reported by Safety.BLR.com)
