Unemployment Low but More Workers Leaving Workplace
The percentage of adult Americans working or actively looking for employment sits at 62.6%, the lowest level in nearly four decades, despite the fact that there are more job openings in the U.S. today than at any point in time since the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics starting tracking vacancy data in December 2000. Unemployment dropped to 5.3% in June and this number does not account for the 640,000 individuals who exited the labor market last month. Interesting times in the world of work.
