Monitoring Employees: How Far Can Employers Go?
Employers need to know how far they legally can go when it comes to
monitoring employers on and off duty. Employers who track company-owned and personal automobiles and cellphones using GPS tracking must demonstrate a legitimate business reason for doing so, such as improving response time and efficiency of routes, increasing safety or productivity, eliminating theft, or maintaining accurate timekeeping records, and they also must be aware of state laws governing the practice.
