Changes in Recruitment Methods Coming Quickly

According to report by Society for Human Resource Management’s representative, Gurchiek, Generation Y’s influence will change recruiting forever, argues human resource expert Doug Douglas, managing director and partner of Providence Partners. Generation Y’s expectations of transparency and immediate feedback will prompt recruiters to change their tactics within the next two to three years, Douglas says.

Although members of this generation are incredibly tech-savvy, they expect human interaction. The modern recruiting system—with its heavy use of computers to screen résumés and eliminate applicants—is one that Generation Y finds disrespectful. In the future, recruiters will need to be committed to the applicant experience, have a long-term vision, and be transparent.
