Americans are expressing the highest level of confidence in April since last July
Consumer confidence increased in April to its highest level since July as the labor market improved following the weather-related decline over the winter. The Thompson Reuters and University of Michigan preliminary index of sentiment increased from a four-month low of 80.0 in March to 82.6 in April. Economists surveyed by Bloomberg had forecast a reading of 81.0.
