2018 Holiday Outreach

We love our community! This year, The Temp Connection got involved in multiple projects within Tucson. As a team, we donated to a few wonderful organizations within Arizona. We were each allowed to pick organizations close to our heart.

Our 2018 holiday donations went to the following organizations:

Honor Flight Southern Arizona – The organization Honor Flight Tucson was selected by our Recruiter, Tina Hagen. This organization is very close to her heart. Honor Flight Southern Arizona provides WWII, Vietnam and Korean War Veterans the opportunity to see their national memorials in Washington DC. She hopes to volunteer to accompany veterans on their journey to DC.

Felicia’s Farm –  The organization Felicia’s Farm was selected by our Operations Manager, Jenn Delaney. Felicia’s Farm donates 100% of the vegetables and eggs produced on the farm to a local soup kitchen and donates an average of 200 pounds of produce and 125 dozen eggs each week, helping over 1,000 very low income/homeless people have improved nutrition.

Assistance League The organization Assistance League was also selected by Jenn Delaney. Since 1959 Assistance League of Tucson volunteers have been working in the Tucson community to help those in need. They run numerous programs within our community, such as “Operation School Bell” which provides clothing to children, “Assault Survivor Kits” that provides victims of sexual assault with clothing and toiletries, and “Program Teddy Bear” that has provided more than 23,500 bears to comfort children in crisis. To fund these programs, Assistance League has their very own thrift store!

God’s Vast Resources – The organization God’s Vast Resources was selected by our Sales & Marketing Coordinator, Elliana Vaughn. GVR has a “Mobile Resource Center” that delivers clothing, food, and hygiene items to those in need. They run the Tucson Neighborhood Food Pantry in East Tucson and supplies the community with boxes of produce through their program “Value Veggies”.

Stories that SoarThe program Stories that Soar was selected by our Front Office Coordinator, Tyler Gastelum.  This program is funded by the organization, Literacy Connects. This program was designed to inspire the community and promote literacy by sharing stories through the arts. This program is designed to empower K-12 students by giving voice to their original words and creative ideas.

Ronald McDonald House of Southern Arizona  The charity Ronald McDonald House was selected by our Recruiter, Eugene Adams. RMHC helps families with sick children. They provide a place for families to call home so they can stay close by their hospitalized child at little to no cost. During the family’s stay, they are provided with meals, transportation and other amenities.

GAP Ministries –  We partnered with GAP Ministries to ensure foster children within Tucson receive a present-filled Christmas. We had a blast shopping for 7 children and checking items off their wish list! GAP cares for over 300 foster children annually in family style residential group homes in Tucson. Siblings are able to stay together while in care due to the larger size of our homes. Additionally, GAP’s Community warehouse shares fresh food and basic needs items with over 70 Southern Arizona nonprofits serving the needy.

There are so many deserving charities in Tucson. Our team had such a hard time picking just a few; we hope to spread more love in 2019, and hope you can join us! Make sure to check out our news feed every Tuesday to read about more local non-profits in our new series “Philanthropy Spotlight”.
