Data scientists are in demand due to the growing use of data and
analytics by businesses. There could be a U.S. labor shortage by 2018 of
between 140,000 and 190,000 people with deep analytical skills and 1.5 million managers and analysts who know how to use big data, according to the McKinsey Global Institute as reported by Violino of Forbes.
