Philanthropy Spotlight: Casa de los Niños

Inspired by the kind responses from our 2018 holiday outreach, The Temp Connection is starting a new social media series, “Philanthropy Spotlight”.  There are so many deserving charities in Tucson. Our team had such a hard time picking just a few to sponsor during the holidays. We hope to spread more love in 2019 and give these non-profits the support they deserve. Each week we will highlight a non-profit in Southern Arizona. We hope you take the time to read about these wonderful organizations and how you can get involved in our community.

Casa de los Niños

Casa de los Niños is a wonderful non-profit very close to our heart. Casa provides prevention services to educate and support parents, intervention services to assist families when problems arise, and behavioral health treatment services to restore health and stability individuals, helping to keep families together.

Mission

From Casa de los Niños: “Our mission is to promote child well-being and family stability in our community. Our deep-rooted community connection acts as a guiding force for Casa de los Niños’ vision to increase the number of children and families living safe and healthy lives. We deliver a continuum of services –evidence-based and best practice models meld together prevention, intervention, and treatment strategies to effectively address the needs of at-risk children and their families within our community.

Casa de los Niños partners with families so every child can be raised in a healthy home. Last fiscal year, our programs served over 6,000 kids and over 4,000 families, which is a testament to the great need. Success is due to the efforts and dedication of over 300 employees, along with a corps of community volunteers who work together to comprise a formidable team dedicated to making child well-being and family stability the norm throughout our community”.

The Casa de los Niños Thrift Store is an important part of the rich history of this organization and the easiest way to support this amazing company. Their thrift store began with the friends of their Founder, Sister Kathleen Clark, collecting blankets, diapers and clothes for the children. They started with their own collections, and then gathered items in one of their homes. The Thrift Store now has over 12,000 square feet of shopping area at the corner of Prince and Mountain.

  • Donors recycle gently-used items that might otherwise be discarded.
  • Shoppers buy quality merchandise at low prices.
  • Thrift Store Volunteers help Tucson’s children, because all profits support the kids at Casa de los Niños.
