Arizona employers should note that the state’s antidiscrimination statutes are generally the same as federal laws, but numerous municipalities have implemented measures that ban workplace discrimination based on sexual orientation and gender identity. Employers also face challenges under the Arizona Medical Marijuana Act, particularly if they drug test applicants and employees, and they can be hit with significant penalties under state law for intentionally or knowingly hiring undocumented workers.
