An animal shelter worker performs routine animal care and related duties at the animal shelter. The work involves cleaning and maintaining kennel areas, and performing related shelter duties. Workers carry out daily assignments, follow through on matters, and use independent judgment and training to take appropriate actions to deal with standard recurring situations. Essential job functions include: cleaning kennels and performing related housekeeping duties. Performs other shelter duties such as taking reports from the public, receiving animals brought to the shelter, preparing adoption paperwork, reclaiming animals to their owners, and transporting animals to veterinarians. Updating, editing, and correcting data files on animals in the kennel. Maintaining proper inventory levels of cleaning and other supplies. Assists other animal shelter employees as assigned.
