Job Market Shows Conflicting Signals in August
For August numbers, the conflict comes due to lower number of hiring in the month, a total of 173,000 jobs. (This may change to the better when revised estimates come in). And yet, the unemployment rate is down to 5.1%, the lowest level since 2008. This does send mixed messages. (WSJ’s Harrison report)
