Be Careful in the Afternoon if You Are Working in a High Risk Position

According to reporter Goldberg of Business Insurance, employees in high-risk positions are most at risk of falling asleep and getting injured on the job right after lunch, during the period known as the “mid-afternoon dip,” according to loss control specialist and safety advisor Kurt VonRueden, speaking at the American Association of Safety Engineers’ Safety 2014 Conference on June 11. Ideally, VonRueden said, employers should ensure employees are not performing safety-sensitive or high-hazard tasks during the mid-afternoon dip, and they should switch employees with repetitious jobs to another task during that period to avoid accidents.
