Mixed Message on the Economy-Who Is Right?

The Conference Board Consumer Confidence Index rebounded in August, now standing at 101.5, up from the decline in July of 91.0. Consumers are more upbeat about business conditions and the labor market with 21.9% saying jobs are plentiful and feeling that more jobs will be available in the months ahead. On the opposite end is a recent survey of 3 dozen economists predicting a lackluster economic growth, remaining below the long-run average of 3%, weak pay gains and modest hiring. So we look at the average consumer and then an expert economist and who is right in their outlook? We hope it’s the consumer, your neighbor next door. Reported by Rugaber of Associated Press.
